UM GECC to Dubai: A Journey of Knowledge, Culture, and Inspiration 🇦🇪

Universiti Malaya (UM) was among the selected universities worldwide invited by Azizi Developments to participate in the Burj Azizi University Exposure Program in Dubai. Representing UM were eight outstanding students: Isma Amirrul Ismail, Thee Hock Wei, Matthew Lau Kai Lok, Muhammad Firdaus Ibrahim, Nur Irsalina Zakaria, Izznur Akhmar Zamirzan, Ong Cheng U, and Muhammad Luqman Hakim Mahadi, accompanied by Ms. Haniza Hata from UM GECC and Dr. Saznizam Sinoh from the Faculty of Engineering.
Throughout the week, participants engaged in technical and cultural experiences including sessions on design, safety, and construction management for the Burj Azizi Project, which is scheduled for completion in December 2029 and will become the second tallest building in the world. They also explored Burj Khalifa, Dubai Marina, and Dubai Mall, gaining firsthand insight into Dubai’s architectural excellence.
Key highlights included a site tour of Burj Azizi, meetings with renowned industry leaders such as Mr. Kang Sang Ku, and an inspiring session with Mr. Mirwais Azizi, Chairman of Azizi Group, who shared:
“In whatever that you become in your life, be good to people, do something that you can contribute to society, and be kind.”
The students also visited the Museum of the Future, Aya Universe, and Meydan Azizi Riviera, while the trip concluded with a memorable Dubai Desert Safari and a cultural visit to Al Seef (Old Dubai).
This collaboration between UM GECC and Azizi Developments provided valuable global exposure, enhancing students’ technical knowledge, cultural understanding, and professional growth. It was truly an inspiring journey of learning and discovery.
